Can it get worse? Oh yes it can...

Yes it is that time of year...the wedding jobs have been rolling for a month or so now without too much problem...until yesterday...

Mother of the bride walks in with two pieces of card stock with borders printed on them. She also has a flash drive. She wants me to print a sample of her invite and RSVP on the stock and then she is going to send them to the bride to look at. When I about had a conniption she looked at me and said "will that be a problem?"

I explained ...

Problem is they are going on the press so I have to set up for each one print one and then wait for a couple days to finish printing them. I told her it would be an extra $30 since we charge around $15 to burn a plate.

"OH"

So now I have to call her when I get one printed and she will race right over and ok it before I run the rest...oh ya she is bringing the rest when she comes to proof it...

The really funny thing is they are Plain Jane invites and RSVP cards...nothing special....I have done 100's of them, but they still want to see them before I run them.

Another funny thing...They set them up very small in the middle of each card. I mean tiny... I called her and told her. She asked if it could be enlarged. And I said "sure, come and get the flash drive and bring it back when you have them the size you want them"

"OH you can't do it?"

"Yes but I will have to charge you to manipulate the files."

"OH"

People don't think... and I know I am just as guilty in areas I don't know anything about, but seeing the same thing day in and day out just grinds on that nerve a little.

So tomorrow I get to run my proofs...I put them on the bottom of the stack and ran everything else first so I would get madder standing around waiting for someone to show up while I have jobs to get off the press.

We have been very busy this week...things are picking up.

Tis the season for weddings!!

Programs, invitations, RSVP's what a wonderful array of work.
Then again what a chance to ruin some girls wedding.

We get lots and lots of folks who buy the kits to print at home. Then I end up printing them when they can't get them to feed through their home printer. Oh Joy!

I also get the odd emergency fix that some other printer screwed up. Yes we screw up too but not as much as we used to before we got rid of the typesetter who shut off spell check because she didn't like the red squiggly lines under the words. (really)

We have had 5 or six wedding related jobs through in the last two weeks and I get to run some invites and RSVP's in the morning if we get a proof ok'd.

I just love (NOT) running vellums through the ol AB dick. I always tell the victim er customer that there is a chance I could ruin a bunch of them. They always get a scared look, but then I tell them I haven't ruined more than one or two in about ten years....well I know I just jinxed myself... so the next person to bring in vellum to be imprinted beware!!!
